No Flushing

Went to the mess hall for our usual weekend breakfast. $2 is hard to beat for eggs, bacon/sausage, biscuits, potatoes, fresh fruit, cereal, pancakes, etc.

Went to Media Markt after breakfast, Wee Laddie fell asleep in the car, so I waited outside with him while Guitarman shopped. We wanted to get “Flushed Away” (“Flutsch und Weg” over here), which is a new fave of Wee Laddie’s, but they didn’t have it. Guitarman got “Toy Story 2” and “A Bug’s Life.” Both in German. I figure eventually some of us will learn a little German if we keep watching all these videos in it… right?

Guitarman has mentioned that it’s sort of weird to work with people who have been away from the US for some length of time, as they don’t get some of the cultural references he makes. For those of you who don’t know this, Guitarman is quite funny. A little while ago at work one day, someone asked what his password was and he said, “Big boy.” (Those of you who have seen that commercial just laughed. I know you did.) But the person he was with had no idea he was even making a joke.

Reminds me of that time I went to the copy room at the Mart and the big boss was back there making copies. I said, “Darrell… makin’ copies,” and kind of chuckled. He’s like, “What? Why is that funny?” I’m like, “Do you ever watch Saturday Night Live?” “No.” Well, it’s not going to be funny at all then, once you have to explain it. Oy.
