Dear Microsoft

Am I the only one who gets seriously annoyed by software’s assumption that I do not know how to properly use a mouse?

I’d love it if I could, say, select a bunch of text in Microsoft Word and NOT have Word add extra letters or words to my selection without my okay. I’m constantly having to retype parts that it cleverly deleted along with whatever I actually wanted to delete. It seems like I have reset this in the preferences and yet it continues to happen. It’s as if Word is also correcting my preference settings.

It’s like when they took away the keyboard commands for doing form letters, so instead of just being able to type a command in for my fields I suddenly had to go through like 10 menus to do what I wanted. I realize that lots of people don’t bother to learn keyboard commands, but for those of us who do, the least they could do is not take them away.

Bill, are ya listening?

I'll have Jason pass that along. :)

He has his own gripes with certain Microsoft products too and says, "Whenever I meet someone that tells me they worked on ____ I'm gonna tell them ____." Then looks at me and says, "Because I DO meet these people now."
